The Importance Of Newly Weds Joining a Church

Gulf-Shores-Beach-Weddings

We know that you are busy. You have a career, possibly children, hobbies, and other things that fill up your time. I do too. I believe it is so important for newly weds to start their marriage off right by getting involved in a local church. Not that the church saves you, only faith in Jesus can do that, but I want you to see why church is so vitally important to the Christian Newly Wed.

One of the most common statements that I’ve seen is “Christians divorce at the same rate as non-Christians,” undoubtedly giving the world another opportunity to shout “Hypocrite!” This is controversial statement that is surely going to attract eyes and pageviews, but how accurate is it? Some even say that religious conservatives divorce more than the rest of society.

We’ve all heard that you have a 50% chance of getting divorced, because, you know, 1 in 2 marriages end in divorce. Research actually shows that couples who are active in their faith are much less likely to divorce. Catholic couples were 31% less likely to divorce; Protestant couples 35% less likely; and Jewish couples 97% less likely, which in itself is quite impressive, I must say. You can look for yourselves in Christians Are Hate-Filled Hypocrites… and Other Lies You’ve Been Told

The Church is the most powerful institution ever created because it was created by God. Jesus one day will come back for His church. Not everyone that goes to church, but those that are truly His. Jesus says that you must be born again to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. But once we are truly “His”, the Bible state that we should not cease assembling ourselves together.-

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

The church is not assembling of people that are exactly alike either. If it is you may be at the wrong church! The church is about community not a click or a club.  Anyone can form a club, but it takes grace, shared vision, and hard work to form a community. The Church was the first institution in history to bring together on equal footing Jews and Gentiles (non-Jews), Men and women, slaves and free. The apostle Paul said that this is a “mystery that has been kept hidden in God” By forming a community and not a club out of different people, Paul said we have the opportunity to capture the attention of the world.

Ephesians 3:9-10 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

Does the church fail sometimes? Yes. But the Church is the one place that brings together different generations, babies, children, adults, races, and personalities. All for the sake of community. All for one common reason. Jesus. We find common ground in Jesus. If you want the community experience God is offering to us, we have a reason to seek out a congregation of people that are “not like us”. That’s what community is. We are all different. We all have different world views but love knits us together in community not clubs. Find a church that you and your family can be part of the community that is the church.

Ephesians 3:6

That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, , and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
