Life Giving Relationships
Marriage Tip on Life Giving Relationships and where to find them. Being newly weds has some challenges. We want you have a good start to your marriage. Do you know how important relationships are? Not just your relationship to your spouse but with others. Do you remember the old song “This Little Light of Mine”? Part of the lyrics is “I’m gonna let it shine”. But let’s face it there are some relationships that could cause a dark cloud to form over your marriage. As newly weds you should be seeking life giving relationships. Relationships that shine light as you yourself shine light on others. The moon is a dead ball in the sky. It gives no light at all. The only light that comes from the moon doesn’t belong to the moon! It of course belongs to the sun. Maybe you see where I’m going with this. The Bible teaches that not only are we sinners, but we are sinFul. Ephesians 2 says “and you were dead in the trespasses and sins.” So like the moon, we are a dead thing. That means that any good and any light that we shine comes from somewhere else. Namely, from Christ Jesus. The speed of light is 186,000 miles per second. Do you know how fast darkness is? It has no speed at all. Darkness is simply the absence of light. I want you to have light in your marriage!
We SHINE in our relationships…
1. Relationships are important.
One light is great but being part of a group of lights is better.
That’s why Church Membership is important. I encourage you to find a church.
You can’t do it alone.
“You are the Light of the world” But you are a city on a hill”
We can accomplish so much more together.
WE MUST THINk “WE” NOT “ME” …. FULL POTENTIAL.
SHOW ME YOUR RELATIONSHIPS AND I CAN SHOW YOU THE PATH THAT YOU ARE ON.
RIGHT VOICES, RIGHT CHOICES!
Relationships should be life giving
For your new marriage to really get off on the right track, YOU MIGHT NEED TO WEED OUT SOME PEOPLE THAT ARE IN YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOW!
Matthew 16:23New King James Version (NKJV)
23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”
JESUS SAID ‘I AM ON A MISSION FROM GOD AND YOU ARE NOT GONNA STOP ME.
Your marriage could actually be a stake if you don’t cut some ties.
One night we were coming home from a wedding and a drunk driver was coming straight for us on Why 59. He was on the wrong side of the road.
I DIDN’T SAY “WELL I’M DOING THE SPEED LIMIT AND I’M IN MY LANE” I’M DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT SO THEY NEED TO MOVE!
What did I do? I got out of his way! He could have killed us.
You may need to get out of the way of some of your relationships before they hurt your marriage! This could even be family. Or childhood friends. Who is not giving life to your relationship? Who is not Shining Light on your life?
Move out of their way before they hurt you!
Relationships are valuable to your marriage
1 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11
ARE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS SPEAKING THE WORDS OF GOD IN YOUR LIFE AND IN YOUR MARRIAGE?
ARE YOU SPEAKING GOD’S GLORY INTO YOUR RELATIONSHIPS
IDENTIFY AND INVEST IN SOME MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS. YOUR MARRIAGE COUILD BE AT STAKE. CUT TIES WITH THOSE THAT ARE NOT SHINING LIGHT INTO YOUR LIFE.
ALSO EXAMINE YOUR OWN LIFE. ARE YOU SHINING LIGHT INTO OTHERS LIFE? GOD IS OUR SOURCE OF LIGHT. WE ONLY SHINE WHAT WE GET FROM HIM. STAY CLOSE TO HIM!
